Failure to Connect to Web Server

1st I am working way outside my comfort zone. That said, I installed SAGE/VMware Player around 2 years ago. Back then I was able to work with SAGE just fine. Have not touched it in around 1.5 years since IE has upgraded as has Win XP Pro SP3 with different patches. So now when I launch VMware Player it appears to open just fine (just upgraded to v3.1.3). Then I launch the SAGE virtual machine (I guess the original version) and it indicates to connect to 192.168.142.128. When I launch IE v8 or Firefox v3.6.13, I get the same error as shown in the subject of the post.

Any thoughts as to how to get it back working???

let try:

open terminal virtual machine and type:

   $ ifconfig

copy the ip

after, type:

    $ sage

    sage: notebook(interface=' ')

in firefox, by host machine, use: ip_virtual_machine:8080
