installing on ubuntu 11.04

Yep, compiling from source is generally the preferred way to install Sage.
I downloaded the binary for 10.04 and installed it on Ubuntu 11.x -- it seems to be working without trouble. (I did have to install an extra library with "apt-get install
". I don't remember the name of the library, but it was obvious from the error messages printed when I tried to start Sage).
On my netbook running Ubuntu, binary Sage installs are definitely preferred over compiling from source.
