I have down loaded the file sage-vmware-4.6.zip fom UK mirror. When I try to open it (expand) I get the message "file invalid or corrupted" and of course nothing happens. How do get to install this software ?

I downloaded and unzipped it with no problems, so as @Jason Grout is suggesting, try re-downloading.

Can you double-check the md5 sum of the file you downloaded? It sounds like the download was corrupted somehow in transit. According to the download site, the md5 should be 9a12ec077ac9728eab91be9bbe6d4e37. Alternatively, you could try re-downloading the zip file.

Jason, Kelvin Thank you both for your answers. In response to them, I can tell you that I have downloaded it twice, with the same result, but will do so again when my computer is not so overloaded. I cannot verify the md5 sum at present; I have to download *that* program before I can do that ! I shall try to that, now that you have given me the answer I should get. I assume we are talking about the identical file ? No need to answer that if we are.

@etrc: you might want to consider building Sage from source if you have a slow/poor internet connection; the source tarball is about one-third the size of the vmware VM image. Also, you can accept @Jason Grout's answer if you like it; it will boost your karma. :-)

EDIT: potentially spammy post deleted. There is no reason to pay for zip recovery software to use on a freely-available file.
