Hi Someone would have the kindness to tell me how I can get the prompt sage: I ambition, But I know I place the bar very high, not sure my little brain could reach that goal ! :-) to be able to add 1 + 1 on sage before the end of the day, Like in the tutorial. I've been searching for half an hour. I'm using VM sage-7.6.ova on VirtualBox.

In fact it works, One has to be patient. The "sage:" prompt finally arrives after 40 seconds! When I entered "sage" in the terminal, I saw the message SageMath Version 7.6 arrived, but I thought it did not work, and I used to left the terminal window before the prompt get in the terminal ! I admit I was a bit impatient...

Good! Yes, it does take a while to first start up because there are so many bits of mathematical goodness inside of Sage that are loading into your virtual machine's memory :-)

Good thing there are now more ways to install Sage on Windows

  • the Sage-Windows installer
  • installing in the Windows Subsystem for Linux
  • installing via Docker
