# Sage interface

Why is the Sage interface opened in an internet browser? Is there any way to change it so that the Sage notebooks and worksheets are local in the computer?

Can you give more details about your setup? Are you using SageMathCloud, Sage notebook, Jupyter ... ? Typically if you have a local installation of Sage, either sagenb or Jupyter notebooks are saved locally and

viewedin the browser.I installed sage-7.2-OSX_10.11.4-x86_64.app onto my computer.

In that case, all of this IS already local in the computer. I'm not sure what you are asking for additionally? It is only the interface which is a browser, and you can always use the command line if you wish.

I am asking for something like the Mathematica notebook, which is a window in the computer not in the internet browser.

I really don't understand why you need that as opposed to another window - a browser window is a window in the computer like any other window - but if you must have some interface that does not use a browser, then you need the command line. I've never heard of anyone objecting to that, but creating a 'native' as opposed to AJAX app like that is a lot of work, without much benefit from the Sage side, though some have talked about one over the years.
