https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35120#post-id-35120Can you give more details about your setup? Are you using SageMathCloud, Sage notebook, Jupyter ... ? Typically if you have a local installation of Sage, either sagenb or Jupyter notebooks are saved locally and *viewed* in the browser.Tue, 11 Oct 2016 04:14:01 +0200https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35120#post-id-35120Comment by yhsai for
Why is the Sage interface opened in an internet browser? https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35131#post-id-35131I installed sage-7.2-OSX_10.11.4-x86_64.app onto my computer.Wed, 12 Oct 2016 05:39:18 +0200https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35131#post-id-35131Comment by kcrisman for
Why is the Sage interface opened in an internet browser? https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35134#post-id-35134In that case, all of this IS already local in the computer. I'm not sure what you are asking for additionally? It is only the interface which is a browser, and you can always use the command line if you wish.Wed, 12 Oct 2016 17:19:05 +0200https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35134#post-id-35134Comment by yhsai for
Why is the Sage interface opened in an internet browser? https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35140#post-id-35140I am asking for something like the Mathematica notebook, which is a window in the computer not in the internet browser.Thu, 13 Oct 2016 02:20:53 +0200https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35140#post-id-35140Comment by kcrisman for
Why is the Sage interface opened in an internet browser? https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35174#post-id-35174I really don't understand why you need that as opposed to another window - a browser window is a window in the computer like any other window - but if you must have some interface that does not use a browser, then you need the command line. I've never heard of anyone objecting to that, but creating a 'native' as opposed to AJAX app like that is a lot of work, without much benefit from the Sage side, though some have talked about one over the years.Tue, 18 Oct 2016 03:33:57 +0200https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?comment=35174#post-id-35174Answer by kcrisman for
Why is the Sage interface opened in an internet browser? https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?answer=35175#post-id-35175No, there is no non-browser GUI interface. However, readers of this question should know that as long as you are using a local version of Sage (not a remote server or cloud interface) then all notebooks or worksheets are on your local filesystem. (In fact, you can even edit them by hand in the sagenb case, as they are just html, though finding the path can be tedious.)Tue, 18 Oct 2016 03:35:29 +0200https://ask.sagemath.org/question/35116/sage-interface/?answer=35175#post-id-35175
