Hello everybody! I want to use iPython notebook unstead of Sage Notebook. I found at article "Using sage in the new ipython notebook" (February 10, 2013). I try:

andrei@andrei-notebook ~/sage-5.8 $ ./sage -i zeromq
Attempting to download package zeromq

The "configure: WARNING: alloca.h: present but cannot be compiled" sounds like there is something wrong with your toolchain. Maybe try to compile our own copy of gcc? ("sage -f gcc")

I'd also like to see this solved since it prevents me from installing the sagecell package...

Cheers, Christian

I had the same problem as you. I finally installed zeromq in the way I have described here.

Hope it works for you too!

(please let me know... I am curious)

I made a new spkg for the current zeromq, our spkg has been a bit outdated. Presumably this will fix your bug. Can you try and post your results to Trac ticket #14518

Hallo, I am having exactly the same problem. Compiling gcc 4.7.2 (sage -f gcc) did not help, unfortunately.

$ uname -a Linux undy-VII 3.5.0-27-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 25 19:58:17 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ sage -version Sage Version 5.8, Release Date: 2013-03-15
