By default from interactive mode, when I write a command like `plot(x)` it opens in the GNOME image viewer. If I run another `plot` function, it will open a separate window. I've tried setting it to firefox, but that grabs the focus and also leads to a proliferation of tabs. I also note that this question sets out how to specify the viewer. Ideally, I'd like a viewer that I could put on one of the desktop and it would stay there All 2d plots would open in the same window some form of history mechanism for plots was provided If anyone has used the plotting tool, in RStudio, you'll know what I'm talking about.
