syntax error near unexpected token '(' when I try to run m = matrix(2) (like on the docs.sagemath page http://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/refer...)

This is the answer of bash.. Type sage to enter sage first

This looks like the answer that a shell (like bash) would give to your command, You should first enter sage by typing "sage".
