Sagemath & Cocal what is the actual status?
Is Sagemath beeing developed?

YES! As of this writing, for instance, the sage-release list just announced SageMath 8.0, the end result of a dozen betas with probably a few hundred tickets closed. See the git repo for the very active development.
CoCalc is a separate project with its own codebase. Obviously the projects complement each other, and one is commercial (though open source) while one is not.
SageMathCloud (SMC) was commercial since the begining as a service provider. The name changed for CoCalc but that is all. SageMath is an open source software used, among others, by CoCalc (former SMC). It can be installed on personnal computers and all the information about installation can be found on the webpage http://www.sagemath.org/

I was using sagemathcloud. But since they rebranded and made it commerical i have stopped using it. Since its not quite clear if it would survive. And the code from books for sage math ist not working properly. Is there a tutorial to make it run on mac? and Linux with the newest build?
