Why does "_" not give the last computed result?

asked 2016-11-14 17:36:35 +0100

I have a few calculations and want the numeric value of the last result in addition to the rational one given. I tried using N(_) but did not get the numeric of the last result but that of a one of the other results. I tried this for a few of the results and always get the same numeric result, the wrong one. Help.

You'll have to tell us exactly which platform you are on, which notebook or other thing ... thanks for all info!

Sorry. Using a .sagews within Sagemathcloud. I am running macOS Sierra with Safari. I read a question/answer on this site that stated to use "_" to use the last computed result, so I gave it a try, but no go.

From the worksheet where this is happening in SageMathCloud, click the "help" button at the top and describe your problem.

The SageMathCloud team will look into the problem.

Last month (2016-10) a problem with underscore in SageMathCloud Sage worksheets was reported on the sage-cloud mailing list as Underscore issue, and was solved as smc issue 1107.

It's not clear whether the problem you are reporting is related to that, though.

I just created a ticket thru SMC for this issue. I tested using "_" with a simple expression and received NameError: name '_' is not defined

BTW, I am using using %typeset_mode=True
