How does one install SAGE in windows?

Can someone help me with the process?

I downloaded a .ova and a .vmdk file from the mirror

Now what?

you might like https://cloud.sagemath.com better. No installation required.

Guidance tells that you can install Sage either from a pre-built binary tarball or from its sources. If you want to install Sage on Windows you should install VirtualBox for Windows and then download and install the VirtualBox distribution of Sage.

A SageMath installer for 64-bit Windows is in the works. It is now is in alpha testing, so if you feel like testing it, download the .exe from the first item at

https://github.com/embray/sage-windows/releases/

and run it. It should work with Windows 7 and up.
