Stackexchange
Has anyone considered creating a stackexchange site for Sage?
It appears to me that stackexchange is the most popular site for such things and would definitely not hurt to Sage popularity. In addition stackexchange community is larger and the software in question is much more flexible and readable.
I'd definitely be more motivated to use stackexchange than ASKBOT.
In my experience, questions at feed://stackoverflow.com/feeds/tag/sage do fine there if they are Python questions, and take somewhat longer than here to answer if they are Sage-specific. A new Sage.SX site would be pointless redundancy with this - open source! - site.
Right, but what about closing this one and having just the non-open source?
Given that this one has over 2000 questions and every major Sage developer who would even think about answering questions on such a site, I think this is here to stay. I doubt one could seamlessly migrate questions and answers, for instance.
That said, if you want to start an Area 51 SX site for Sage and can attract people from here, or other knowledgeable people, I don't think anyone would necessarily try to stop you. But I think that William at least was highly motivated to use an open source platform for this, since certainly we were all familiar with things like mathoverflow etc. before this was created.
