Sage 5.9 should compile natively on Windows (with Cygwin), but I am still having problems, even with rebasing (http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/wiki/CygwinPort). Are there any plans to provide binaries for Windows+Cygwin? Is there a technical reason why the download page recommends using the virtual machine instead (which I suppose is slower, isn't it?)?
