Hi, I'm running Sage on the Oracle VM VirtualBox, in command line mode (black background). How can I copy and paste text from my host machine?

Thanks, Valentina

If you have the virtualbox additions installed (which it should be IIRC in the sage virtualbox image), then you can copy some text in your host machine and paste it in the guest sage command line by pressing shift and insert at the same time.

On second thoughts, I think you are working on the console. In this case, try installing gpm and enabling the gpm service. This will give you a working mouse in the console. You can copy simply by highlighting stuff, and paste by using middle click (or click both left and right buttons at the same time if you don't have a middle button). I am unsure what distribution the virtualbox image is running, so depending on the distribution, run the commands stated in this website.

Ouch! Console support is not implemented in Virtualbox; see this ticket https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/1139

Hello

I don't understand the answer. imagine I want to copy paste :k = 1/(sqrt(3)I + 3/4 + sqrt(73)5/9);

http://doc.sagemath.org/html/en/tutorial/introduction.html#ways-to-use-sage (Introduction-Sage-tutorial) from my host web browser to my Sage-6.9 Oracle VM Virtual Box. could you tell me the procedure step by step from the starting point where I have selected the command in my host web browser, then -> right button copy, please.

Ooops !

from the starting point where I have selected the command in my host web browser, then -> right button copy, then in the guest sage command line by pressing shift and insert at the same time is working well. Sorry ! precision: I think to allowing copy paste you need to enable bidirectionnal drag and drop in the VM Device menu ?
