What I mean is, when I am developing changes that do not affect the notebook, and then I build sage, and I quit and restart a worksheet, the built changes seem to register. I wanted to know whether I could count on this.

It depends. Are you making changes to the notebook, or changes that affect the notebook? If so, then yes. Are you just making changes to the Sage library? Then new worksheets will use the newly-built version without restarting. Are you installing a different version of Sage? Then you definitely need to restart. It's not clear from your question exactly what situation you are asking about.

Just want to clarify - every time you *build* or *run* Sage? In principle I guess the answer is yes regardless. Though any open Sage worksheets will start looking for a server if you stop the server, and if you open a new one with the same internet protocols I guess it would "find" that one so you wouldn't have to stop in that sense... ?
No question is self-explanatory. If you cannot state your question in a self-contained body post and put your situation in context, then it is probably not a very useful question. Remember that the main purpose of the question title is for browsing the question index and letting readers decide *whether* to open the page or not. This is much clearer, thanks! And separate instances of Sage run pretty much independently, though opening two notebook servers at the same time can be a problem.
