I wrote the code at ticket 10744 which implements plotting characters of representations for groups with rank 2 root system. It has languished because of the desire of some sage-combinat developers wanting it to be integrated with older existing plot code.

If you look at the plot function and the examples in the documentation that is attached to it you should be able to use it as a stand alone function (e.g. paste the code into a worksheet and go).
