where to get sagetex.sty

im trying to use sagetex but i cant find any sagetex.sty that works, all of the ones i found on the web are outdated ones that generate python2 code

It is distributed with Sage, so search your hard drive (and the Sage directory in particular) to find the most recent version. You should be able to add its location to the setting of your TEXINPUTS variable.

If you've built Sage from source, and maybe in general, it will be found in venv/share/texmf/.
