Persisting gnuplot window called from Sage's Maxima

Generating a plot via Maxima, from within Sage (eg maxima.plot2d(...), on Windows 10, results in the plot window disappearing almost immediately. This holds true, for me, for the latest three releases, 8.5-8.7. Can anyone say whether there is some option which can be passed either via Maxima or some configuration which be created/manipulated to remedy this and persist the plot window?
