I am interested in creating a web-app that allows for graph creation, edge contraction, vertex splits, and then exports to sage.

If anyone knows of something like this already developed please let me know, otherwise any suggestions on how to begin?

Thanks

I am not aware of such a software, but it should be doable with https://d3js.org/ (which is already an optional package of Sage).

I am very new to Sage, how would I use this in, say the terminal?

For completeness, one could also try to adapt the graph editor, but I don't know how up-to-date this is, and I believe it only work(ed) in the legacy Sage notebook. Maybe it works other places too. But it could be a starting point, and it definitely explicitly exported lots of info to Sage quite usefully.
