I want to find Resultant of trinomials of this form $x^i-x^j-1$. Is it possible to do symbolic calculation for this in sage ?

Are i and j fixed ? What is the second polynomial ?

You could compute it for any value of $i$ and $j$, but I don't think Sage provides a way to enter polynomials with symbolic exponents.
