Hi experts!

I wrote a Monte Carlo script. I use Ubuntu 13.04. I close the laptop lid in the night (during execution of my script).

After several hours (~8hs) of execution of my script, I open the laptop lid and my laptop keep working (HD and other lights are on), but my screen doesnt respond. After few minutes the system ask me for my user-password an then Ubuntu wake up but... sage (and Terminal) isnt open!! (just like rebooted system).

I check the energy configuration and it look fine.

If I open the laptop lid after few hours (~2hs) the system respond well and sage (in Terminal) is open and executing the script.

Please help!

Thanks a lot!

Your problem seems not related to Sage, but to how your distro/desktop-manager handles the lid closure. It is possible that, when closing the lid, your desktop-manager just locks the screen (so that the computation continues), but then shuts down after a few hours. You should have a look to the power-management preferences (or the /etc/acpi directory).

To add to what tmonteil said - I suspect your laptop reboots because it overheats 1. check if your system actually rebooted or not by looking at the system logs (usually `/var/log/messages`). 2. Don't close your laptop lid when computations are running. Some heat is dissipated from the keyboard area, especially if your laptop is running computations. So, it is important that you do not close the lid. In case, all you want is your display to go off then run `xset dpms force off` from a terminal.
