Have you tested and compared the execution speed of different algorithms on different linux distributions? Are there a faster linux distributions? And

This is not a well-formed question, and it ends with "And". I would imagine this would depend wildly on the hardware, not so much on the Linux distro.

Thanks kcrisman for your comment . Of course I agree with you. But I can't easly change my computer, so If you know of any works on this subject I'd be happy to read them.

I think that it would be easier to ask about a *specific* algorithm (in Sage, I assume you mean), perhaps on the sage-support Google group, and people might be able to test it for you. However, even then it depends on load, and all kinds of other things.
