Problem with sagenb and Google account

asked 2013-05-30 05:52:28 +0100

Hello! I have been logging in to sagenb here for the past month or so using my Google account. Every time I clicked the Google button it would prompt me to create a profile, even though I had already made one and I had worksheets saved. Today, however, when I click the Google button and try to "create" the account, it tells me "Username already in use". Clearly the username exists, but I never gave it a password - I simply logged in using the Google account. Further, there's no way I see that I can recover or create a password. How do I remedy this, either by logging in with my old Google account or finding a way to obtain a new password? My username is Cook_Me_Plox. Thank you.

With Google authentication, you have to pay very close attention to the URL you are using for the sage notebook. www.sagenb.com and sagenb.com and www.sagenb.org and sagenb.org are all considered different as far as Google is concerned, and it will make you set up new accounts for each URL. My guess is that is what is going on. Make sure to use exactly the same URL each time.

Maybe you can apply [this patch](https://github.com/sagemath/sagenb/pull/139) to sagenb.org? We get this question every once in a while.
