First of all, I think it is good to describe how I use SageMath before asking the question.
I installed SageMath in my laptop using Ubuntu 16.04.
It is installed in directory "~/sage".
I usually run SageMath in terminal. That is, I follow the following steps to run SageMath.
1. Open the terminal (It is the basic terminal from Ubuntu 16.04).
2. Go to the directory where SageMath is installed by typing "cd sage".
3. Type "./sage".
Then, sage session begins.
In sage session, I usually load a sage file which I already wrote and run it to check the result.
But sometimes, a program does not seem to finish, since computation takes a lot of time.
Then, I would like to finish the program which I am running now, but *without going out of sage session*,
since otherwise, I should follow 3 steps above again.
However, I could not find how to do it, yet.
Can anybody teach me how to do it?prosolverThu, 16 Feb 2017 02:59:25 -0600https://ask.sagemath.org/question/36640/notebook versus terminal sessionhttps://ask.sagemath.org/question/26396/notebook-versus-terminal-session/ Can someone point me to some explanation why I would use a notebook rather than a terminal session?
Someone has gone to a lot of work to make the notebooks, and I don't understand why, as I like to be able to
paste a sage file, or parts of it, into a "verbatim" environment in TeX so a reader could duplicate the computations.
Is it that a notebook can be used to make an interactive web page?beesonTue, 31 Mar 2015 10:05:44 -0500https://ask.sagemath.org/question/26396/installation reporthttps://ask.sagemath.org/question/26395/installation-report/ I have two Mac computers. On both I found that Sage 6.5 won't work with OS 10.9. So, I installed OS 10.2
on both Macs, deleted the old Sage.app 6.5 for OS 10.9, and installed the new Sage.app for OS 10.10. One one
Mac, everything worked. On the other Mac, I had difficulties. Repeatedly I found that I couldn't start a terminal session and found in the log, "another Sage Notebook server is running". I discovered that by choosing Stop Server
from the Server menu a couple of times I could cure this problem and start a terminal session. This happened
even after a restart. Well, now I know what to do so it isn't blocking any work, but I thought I would report it.
Possibly I double-clicked the Sage icon in the dock? Would that start two servers? Why, anyway, would having two Notebook Servers running interfere with a terminal session? This is supposed to be a "question" so that last sentence is the official "question" here.

It works perfectly. I would wish that a sage-session continues when my computer goes in hibernate-mode. Is that possible. Looked for the settings, but I couldn't find anything. Maybe such is impossible. Unfortunately! Hopefully it is something for the future.MatcosSat, 07 Feb 2015 00:14:28 -0600https://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/save_session runs foreverhttps://ask.sagemath.org/question/10566/save_session-runs-forever/Hello,
when I try to save a session (save_session command) with some expressions that are very long (composed by sums with hundred of terms) then the save session command runs for hours without producing any result nor writing anything to the file that should be created for storing the session on disk.
What can I do ?alessandroThu, 26 Sep 2013 02:22:48 -0500https://ask.sagemath.org/question/10566/
