First of all, I am new to SAGE, and only started using it today.
I want to plot 100 000 random 3D points in SAGE, and it takes a LOT of time just to plot 10 000 points.
This is the code I have:
def random_point(): return (random(), random(), random())
l = [random_point() for k in [1 .. 10000]]
s = point3d(l, size=5)
show(s, aspect_ratio=1)
I noticed that the last two lines take incredibly long each.
Then, after the `show`, when I try to interact with the graphic, it is blank. I can even show the boundbox and axes, but the plot is nowhere to be seen.
If I change to `[1 .. 100]`, everything works as intended, but this amount of points is not enough.
What should I do to accomplish effectively my goal?
I am using SAGE 8.1, installed on macOS via brew, after running `notebook()` on the command line and using the browser-based notebook.
Thank you!KayvlimWed, 14 Nov 2018 19:34:52 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/44286/How do I clear this PDFLATEX error in Sage Notebook?http://ask.sagemath.org/question/36701/how-do-i-clear-this-pdflatex-error-in-sage-notebook/I'm running OS X Sierra with Sage 7.5.1 App version. TEXlive 2016 is installed. PDFLATEX runs from a terminal command. I've followed each step to get SAGETEX to see TEX and probably a few more. I still get: “Error: PDFLaTeX does not seem to be installed. Download it from ctan.org and try again.” I'm running out of things to try. Any assistance would be appreciated.

running sage-6.3.app on macosx 10.9.5, i can’t use %cython in the notebook anymore (it used to work some time ago though, with older sage and system versions);
i get the following: *error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1*
more precisely, gcc doesn’t find a certain file limits.h (see details below) that, however, exists at the given address - i checked it;
how can i make it work again?
PS: same gcc error when loading a .spyx file in the command line
PS2: same errors with the 6.4 version (sage-6.4-x86_64-Darwin-OSX_10.9_x86_64.dmg)
I can run sage in the terminal however. The new Mac was originally running OS X Mavericks. I have now upgraded to OS X Yosemite. The notebook will still not start.
Does anyone know what's wrong? I would really appreciate a reasonable hint where to start looking for the cause of the problem.

EOFErroru0Mon, 03 Nov 2014 08:13:36 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/24759/Notebook access from remote computer does not workhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/10550/notebook-access-from-remote-computer-does-not-work/I installed the binary Sage app (Sage 5.11 OS X 10.6) on OS X 10.7.4. When I click on the Sage icon, Sage starts and opens the web browser to URL localhost:8080. There I have access to my Sage notebooks and every thing works fine.
I would like to access the notebook server over my home network using my iPad. To do this, I follow the instructions in the Sage documents. That is, I start a Sage terminal session and at the sage prompt type notebook(interface='') and hit the return button. The Sage app then opens another browser window at localhost:8080. I try to access the notebook server from my iPad, but it says in the web browser window that the server cannot be found.
I tried closing the web browser on the localhost and using the Sage menu option "Stop server" before starting the Sage terminal but nothing results in the notebook being served over the local network.
How can I get the notebook served over my home network?
If you cannot answer my questions, what can I do to trouble shoot the problem?
Thanks.NoUpKeepThu, 19 Sep 2013 16:18:59 -0500http://ask.sagemath.org/question/10550/shift+enter broken in 5.11 notebookhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/10534/shiftenter-broken-in-511-notebook/I have a basic but crucial problem: on 5.11-64bits, evaluating input in a notebook, is not working anymore. No combination of the enter/return key (with shift, Fn, Ctrl, Alt) triggers evaluation. Either nothing happens or the key triggers linefeed.
Internal keyboard or external bluetooth keyboard alike (none having a specific Enter key).
Notes:
1) I have access to all my previous notebooks and can open them
2) A previous version of Sage (5.3-64bits) works flawlessly on my computer
2) console sage 5.11 works fine as well
Any idea how to restore/replace the shift+enter key ?
System : mac os 10.8.4 Moutain LionPascal RomonWed, 11 Sep 2013 03:41:45 -0500http://ask.sagemath.org/question/10534/How to get "evaluate" to provide an output on OSX 10.7http://ask.sagemath.org/question/9263/how-to-get-evaluate-to-provide-an-output-on-osx-107/Just getting started with Sage and so far I am quite impressed; unfortunately I have so far been unable to get the Sage notebook to run properly on OSX 10.7 (Lion). I did manage to get Sage to run successfully on Linux following a similar install procedure, so hopefully I am not completely off-track.
I have downloaded sage-5.2-OSX-64bit-10.6-x86_64-Darwin.dmg and unpacked into a user-owned directory. Furthermore, based on the FAQ entry "I am using Mac OS X. Where do I put the jsMath ..." I have downloaded TeX-fonts-10.zip and TeX-fonts.zip (did not know which one was needed), and unpacked the .ttf files into /Library/Fonts/ .
After executing ./sage from the install directory, I am able to execute commands from the Sage command line in the terminal window with the expected resulting outputs. However, when I execute notebook() and try to evaluate the same commands in a worksheet in the browser, then "evaluate" provides no output, regardless what I use as inputs. I have the same result with Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, and (un)ticking "Typeset" also does not generate any output.
Any ideas?
