Does "network" here means "internet access"? What for I would need network or internet access?logomathFri, 01 Dec 2017 05:59:22 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/39875/
- How To Accept Remote Network Connectionhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/39456/how-to-accept-remote-network-connection/Hi, I use Mac OS's native Sage App. I can access Sage's Jupyter notebook from that Mac using localhost:8888. I researched a bit and find out if another computer needs to browse the same Jupyter notebook, one needs to start juypter by passing --ip '*' (otherwise it only accepts localhost traffic and will give a Connection Refused error).
But since I am clicking a Mac OS Sage icon to start the server... I am not sure how I can specify the command line option. Please give me some hints.
Thanks

- Graph edge label: formatting possibilitieshttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/25448/graph-edge-label-formatting-possibilities/I have a graph with like this and would like to format ( e.g. color ) the edge labels more individual. Is it possible for example to make from 'a|b' the 'a' red and 'b' blue? Also different font types ( bold, italic ) etc would be interesting.
G = Graph(multiedges=True)
G.add_edges( [(0,1,'a|b'),(1,2,'c|d'),(2,3,'e|f'),(3,4,'g|h'),(4,0,'i|j')] )
H = G.plot(edge_labels=True, graph_border=True)
H.show()
When I remember correctly, there is (limited) support for TeX-formatting, could this be used somehow to achieve the formatting?herbFri, 09 Jan 2015 06:05:52 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25448/
- Draw a 2D spatial networkhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/23623/draw-a-2d-spatial-network/ Hi experts!
I have:
* a list of Q 'NODES'=[(x,y)_1,........, (x,y)_Q], where each element (x,y) represent the spatial position of the node in 2D Cartesian space.
* a matrix 'H' with QxQ elements {H_k,l}.
H_k,l=0 if nodes 'k' and 'l' aren't joined by a edge, and H_k,l = the length of the edge that connects these nodes.
* a matrix 'Z' with QxQ elements {Z_k,l}.
Z_k,l=0 if nodes 'k' and 'l' aren't joined by a edge, and Z_k,l = intensity_k,l (a intensity scale of the edge)
I want to draw the nodes in their spatial position, connected by the edges, and use a color scale for the 'intensity'.
How must I do that?
Waiting for your answers.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards,

- Running SAGE in the own networkhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/10646/running-sage-in-the-own-network/Hi!
I'm using Fedora 18 64bits where I installed the SAGE and it runs normally when I'm using localhost:8080 and with local ip of the machine: 192.168.2.51:8080 (as an example).
I checked the firewall (ipchains) , any computer can connect to 192.168.2.51 . I'm trying to run in my tablet (and several computers in a class) the SAGE in the LAN (others programs/servers are working fine).
I did a search in google and here, I'm almost 1 week trying to solve this. I can't connect in the SAGE machine/server from other computers in the local network.
1) Can someone please explain how to set it to run locally?
2) Why not include in future releases an option to automatically turn it on to an entire network and maybe outside (public)? The security issues is up to the admin of the server.
Thank you very much for the attention.Luiz Roberto MeierTue, 22 Oct 2013 17:28:45 -0500http://ask.sagemath.org/question/10646/
- Plot display problems when changing IP address?http://ask.sagemath.org/question/8464/plot-display-problems-when-changing-ip-address/The following senario has happened to me a couple of times when using Sage to demonstrate things in a classroom.
1. I'm working on a worksheet containing plots of simple functions for a calculus class in my office. The worksheet is on a notebook server somewhere (on campus, at sagenb.org, etc..).
2. I close my laptop, walk downstairs to class, open my laptop and plug into the projector. The laptop is now on a different wireless network, but still connects to the sage notebook server just fine. I get a red "searching for sage server" notice for just a second and then it disappears and the worksheet behaves like normal.
3. I'm half way through class, showing plots of this and that, and I decide that I want to change the bounds on one of my plots.
Say I have
f(x) = 3*x^4+4*x^3-6*x^2
plot( f, (x,-2,3) )
and I want to zoom in and look at
plot( f, (x, -1, 1) )
and a new plot shows up, but it's not quite right. Sometimes I've had the experience that the plot doesn't change at all, I get the same plot as before (i.e. after editing the cell and hitting shift+enter again). Sometimes I get a new plot, but it's not correct. For example, this happened today and I got a new plot which was on the interval (-2, 1) not (-1, 1). I keep editing the cell and trying to re-evaluate the plot and get just continue to get incorrect domains or unchanged plots.
It seems like something is going on with cached images, or old images being re-displayed.
I finally figured out that I can solve the problem by cutting and pasting the code into a new cell, changing the name of the function to something different like h(x), and evaluating the cell.
Any thoughts on why this is happening or how I can prevent it from happening in the middle of class? Do I need to completely log out / log in to the server every time my IP address changes? Or maybe this problem is completely unrelated to the network change.benjaminfjonesThu, 10 Nov 2011 11:21:22 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/8464/
- Sage on Windows networkhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/8347/sage-on-windows-network/Hi
I just successfully installed sage on windows 7 using virtual box. My question is, is it possible and how can I access sage from other computers on the network (sage runs on localhost:8000)
Please your answers will be highly appreciated. mecusTue, 27 Sep 2011 06:42:22 -0500http://ask.sagemath.org/question/8347/
- Best way to plot graphhttp://ask.sagemath.org/question/8226/best-way-to-plot-graph/Hello!
Could you pleas advise me the best way to plot graph with cycles and make it looks like tree? Here is the sample picture of result I'd like to have:
![image description](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/Artificial_neural_network.svg/350px-Artificial_neural_network.svg.png)
Plot on this pictures have 'layers', is there any chance to get something like this in Sage? I tried this:
t = DiGraph()
t.add_edge((0,1))
t.add_edge((0,2))
t.add_edge((0,3))
t.add_edge((0,4))
t.add_edge((4,9))
t.add_edge((3,9))
t.add_edge((2,9))
t.add_edge((1,9))
t.plot()
but the [result](http://img17.imageshack.us/i/sage0.png/) is far from desired.
Thanks.

- Cannot go online within Sage.http://ask.sagemath.org/question/7961/cannot-go-online-within-sage/Hi, I'm running Sage from Windows 7, using vmware. I am new at this, so I'm following a tutorial and so far everything works out. However, for some reason, I cannot go online using the Firefox in the vmware enviroment. In fact when I start a notebook it says "External network not setup". However I don't know how to set up the external network. I was wondering if this can be fixed.
Also, I don't know if this helps, but I used the vmware player to create a virtual machine running Ubuntu 10.10 and that one can go online.
As far as the Vitual Machine settings in Sage, I have the Network set to NAT, the shared folders enabled and the vmware tools have been installed.
Thanks for any help you can provide.nukaineMon, 21 Feb 2011 07:19:21 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/7961/
