* Do you mean `find_root` ?
* Do you use an optional package ?Wed, 01 Feb 2023 12:06:44 +0100https://ask.sagemath.org/question/66175/how-does-the-fsolve-function-find-the-solution/?comment=66178#post-id-66178Comment by slelievre for <p>I would like to know how the fsolve function finds the solution.

https://ask.sagemath.org/question/66175/how-does-the-fsolve-function-find-the-solution/?answer=66180#post-id-66180I *suppose* you're talking about `scipy.optimize.fsolve`, which is itself a wrapper for `scipy.optimize.root`. Iss [documentation](https://docs.scipy.org/doc/scipy/reference/generated/scipy.optimize.root.html#scipy.optimize.root) lists (but does-not *describe*) the various available methods, the default being `hybr`, which

I won't paraphrase the related [Wikipedia entry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powell%27s_method), but point out this previous [question](https://ask.sagemath.org/question/8069/using-sage-symbolic-functions-in-scipy-fsolve/), which might be useful...
