It works perfectly. I would wish that a sage-session continues when my computer goes in hibernate-mode. Is that possible. Looked for the settings, but I couldn't find anything. Maybe such is impossible. Unfortunately! Hopefully it is something for the future.Sat, 07 Feb 2015 00:14:28 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/sage-session-stops-when-computer-sleeps/Comment by Matcos for
I have a provider who hosts Sage. I'm working with The Sage Notebook v 6.0, via the Firefox browser v 35.0.
The Sage Notebook does not quit but is inactive until my own computer and the Firefox browser are active again.Sun, 08 Feb 2015 10:22:14 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/sage-session-stops-when-computer-sleeps/?comment=25769#post-id-25769Comment by kcrisman for
I have a provider who hosts Sage. http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/sage-session-stops-when-computer-sleeps/?comment=25767#post-id-25767Can you give us a few more details about your situation? What do you mean "a provider who hosts Sage"? A Sage notebook? Sage cloud? In principle, a Sage notebook worksheet should not quit by default if you are inactive; however, the server may have a timeout set for inactivity that you are running into.Sat, 07 Feb 2015 20:38:10 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/sage-session-stops-when-computer-sleeps/?comment=25767#post-id-25767Answer by slelievre for
I have a provider who hosts Sage. http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/sage-session-stops-when-computer-sleeps/?answer=25777#post-id-25777Trying to clarify the question:
- you connect to a distant Sage Notebook server, running Sage 6.0
(a bit like sagenb.org which has Sage 5.11);
- you connect from your computer, using Firefox 35.0;
- you start a long computation and put your computer in sleep mode;
- you want the computation to keep running to the end while your computer is sleeping;
- instead, you find out that the computation has stopped while your computer was sleeping.
(Please correct if the question you want to ask is different.)
If that's your question, I think the Sage Notebook server might have some limits to the amount of memory each user can use, and some timeout on how long computations can take before they are stopped. You could try to use SageMathCloud at cloud.sagemath.com, or to find a Sage Notebook server with more generous usage limits.Mon, 09 Feb 2015 06:33:20 -0600http://ask.sagemath.org/question/25760/sage-session-stops-when-computer-sleeps/?answer=25777#post-id-25777
