Thanks for your report! Indeed, the instructions posted in the Sage installation guide are obsolete for Ubuntu 24.04. I'll open a github issue for this. Meanwhile, you may use these updated instructions to build SageMath 10.4 in Ubuntu 24.04. This should work without any error.
