Sage appliance failure

I have imported sage-5.12.ova into VMware Player, ver. 6.0.1 build-1379776. The appliance boots to the 'sagevm login:' prompt, giving one message along the way "Host SMBus not enabled". This looks innocuous to me. After login ('sage' / 'sage'), I get these messages: rpc.statd[932]: Caught signal 15, un-registering and exiting rpcbind[919]: rpcbind terminating on signal. Resart with "rpcbind -w" systemd-cgroups-agent[1138]: Failed to get D-Bus connection: Failed to connect to socket /org/freedesktop/systemd1/private: Connection refused Sending SIGTERM to remaining processes... Sending SIGKILL to remaining processes... After several more messages, we get to "Power down", and the VM exits.

What can I do to get the D-Bus connection? tnx
