Number fields and memory

Hi,

I'm intensively using number fields. More precisely, I have a matrix group for which the coefficients belong to some number field and I iterate through this group. For degree beyond a certain threshold (~ degree 8), Sage starts to fill more and more memory and I don't understand why (there is no reason from algorithmic point of vue). Is there a way to improve memory usage ? How could you explain such behavior ?
