I am having the same question. If I manage to sucessfully download a .sagews file from the cloud, can I send it to someone and have them upload it to the cloud? I have a course on a thumb drive and want to be able to include .sagews files there.
I voted "like" for the above answer, from calc314. It did answer my question. But I guess I also did not fully, properly phrase my question. Now I know what happens when I click that button.
I watched the whole video,but I still don't know how to download a sage worksheet, so that I can use it when I want to run SAGE locally. I like being able to "go local" in case the internet is down or just slow.
Also, I don't know if I should have added this answer, as I did, or if I should have edited the question.
RIght now, there is not a local version of Sage Math Cloud, which uses a .sagews format for worksheets rather than the .sws format. You can copy/paste commands from SMC into the old .sws worksheets but you cannot upload .sagews worksheets into the old sage notebook.
This saves the file to your account "in the cloud." So, you won't see the file on your local machine. You can click on the "Files" tab within the Sage Math Cloud interface in your browser. Then, you should see a directory of files that includes the one you just made.

In the file manager if you click on the cloud download button off to the right (when the mouse is over a file), it will download that file to your personal computer.
Great - this is just what I wanted -- or so I thought when I first read it. I tried this and yes I get a message on the screen that says a file is being downloaded, but afterwards, I am not able to find it in my file system (I use linux Mint - I first searched my home directory and later expanded to start at the root of the file system, but either way the search came up empty). The download process did not ask me where I wanted to save the file (it just said downloading with command rsync -axH --backup --backup-dir=.trash/ source dest so as not delete files that might be overwritten.
On a different computer, I tried this again - this time I was asked where I wanted to save the file - and, sure enough, it saved there. But as calc314 says below, I couldn't upload it to my "local" sage notebook program. It was saved as a "plain text file" - neither .sws nor .sagews At least, I can copy and paste into either type of sage from here.
