It looks like when I try to install from source on Linux Mint 13 that it doesn't recognise gcc.

I am running this in virtualbox on Windows Vista. The virtual machine has 2gb of ram, a 15 gb hard disk and a new install of linux mint 13 cinnamon.

The first part of the logfile says: Installing GCC because a Fortran compiler is missing. * ALL ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES BEFORE BUILD: *

the last part of the logfile is:

This seems to be related to a broken C library install. There is a thread about the same problem at:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6329887/compiling-problems-cannot-find-crt1-o

See if one of the proposed solutions works for you.
