Using sage -i is only supported for Sage installed from binaries or built from source.

Currently it does not work for Sage installed via a package manager.

When such problems arise, the files

  • .../SageMath/logs/pkgs/gap_packages-4.10.2.p1.log
  • .../SageMath/config.log

usually have some relevant information about what went wrong.

If you lack expertise to make sense of those files, you could post them here or to the sage-support or sage-devel mailing list, and usually people will point a way forward.

  • .../SageMath/logs/pkgs/gap_packages-4.10.2.p1.log.../SageMath/config.log (always)
  • .../SageMath/config.log.../SageMath/logs/pkgs/gap_packages-4.10.2.p1.log (in this case)
